Due to the nature of cryptic social media interaction, we rarely have the opportunity to directly correspond with you in more that 146 characters. Therefore, on behalf of John, Ian and myself, we feel that it would only be appropriate to take a moment to share with you—straight from the horses’ mouths—that we are very happy to announce the impending arrival of Battles’ third full-length album. It is called La Di Da Di, and it will be released on September 18, 2015 by the exceptional Warp Records.
Some details about La Di Da Di that you may want to know—it consists of twelve super-solid, multi-colored, full-of-flavor, Battles-style total rippers. The three of us began writing the album in 2013, immediately following a two year world tour in honor of our previous album, Gloss Drop. La Di Da Di was fully realized at our favorite recording studio, Machines with Magnets, in Providence, Rhode Island, where it was meticulously engineered and mixed by Keith Souza and Seth Manchester. For the icing on the cake, the album was mastered to perfection by Greg Calbi at Sterling Mastering in New York City. So, yes, it will sound really good when you are listening to it on double-vinyl, cd, or as a high-quality audio file download. Also, just so your eyes don’t feel left out while your ears are doing all the work, I made the artwork for this album so that you could have something to look at while listening. You can check-out the album cover and the track listing below.
In addition to La Di Da Di coming out on September 18th, we just announced a bunch of live show dates on bttls.comthat we will soon embark upon, so we look forward to seeing your faces in person. If we missed your city on this initial phase of our tour, chances are we will be back to try to get all of those nooks and crannies that we passed by the first time around. Until then, I can only advise that you try to see us play these new songs at a city near you because, as we continue to tour and evolve, the organic process of a Battles set takes on an entirely new life of its own. Other than that, we have a lot of exciting projects on the burner that we look forward to sharing with you soon, so please keep in touch.
Lastly, thank you, thank you, and thank you, for hanging in there and supporting us throughout the years, because—as we already know—Battles fans are the best fans in the world, and we can’t thank you enough for your patience, enthusiasm, and commitment to our artistic endeavours as a band.
