Re: Discovering Battles, meeting the band
That's awesome that Thom is a fan. I read somewhere that Stanier really enjoyed TKOL. I first heard of Battles in 2009 from a few friends (musicians) in college. Somehow Battles came up in some discussion, I think it was about Don Caballero-- and they asked if I had heard them. I hadn't and they told me to check them out. I saw the video for "Atlas" and really dug it, then bought Mirrored and EP C/B EP. Add to that Gloss Drop ( I eagerly anticipated it's release and it delivered) and they've...

Stanier is currently touring with Tomahawk til April so I guess they won't actually start putting the new album together until after then.

Re: Official "new album" thread
Hi all. I've been skulking around this site on and off for a while now. Thought I would sign up and let you know, as per ian williams' twitter. The new record will be done by July and Warp will be putting it either in the fall or in january next year. He dosen't know yet. HOW FUCKING EXCITING. Also John Stanier gets married in June.

Re: John Stanier live drum-cam, full set:
Thanks for this! Sound quality is quite good. Stanier should don a GoPro so we can see the machine work from the machine's pov.

Thanks for checking them out! Video is standard-def 4:3 aspect ratio - but actually looks better than a dimly lit club would, thanks to the lighting. Audio is courtesy an X/Y stereo condenser - I'm pretty happy with how the audio turned out. John's playing is super hard hitting and tight, so I'm glad it was able to capture some of that energy.

Re: What guest vocalist would you love to see?
I love all those singers you mentioned. Goldfrapp would sound great with them. Bjork and Thom are in to Battles so I don't think it would be too far fetched for them to collaborate. I would love to see Mike Patton sing on a future record. He's arguably the most versatile experimental vocalist out there. Stanier plays in Tomahawk with him so there's that connection. Karin Dreijer Andersson would be another I'd love to see work with them. She's experimental with vocal effects but also has a...

I should add a section to the site about their gear, but I'm not well-versed enough to know all that!
