So apparently Dave left the band and they will carry on as a duo. Its a bummer but someone posted a new song on youtube from their meteor fest show. The new stuff is really good from what Ive read. The new track has sort of a krautrock-neu feel to it. So despite the sad news, theyre going to keep making sick music!

yep and i read a forum post from someone who spoke to ian and he confirmed it. the new song is fucking sick.
Geez, I haven't been here lately and this is the first I've heard of this. 
Unbelievable. What did the person who spoke to Ian say about Dave leaving? Any reason why? They seemed so tight as a trio and it's hard to imagine John and Ian carrying on for much longer as a duo.
I imagine there will be some PR piece when it is announced. Maybe it will say why but I doubt it.
I would guess Dave has either moved on to work on some other project, or maybe wasn't comfortable with the direction of the band towards more electronic-type-stuff? We'll probably hear in time.

Well it's official... I restrained from posting this on the main site per Ian's request, but now the cat's out of the bag.

It's nice to hear something at all- but the article is confusing, because they already made posts about the recording process being done and the article says the album isn't finished yet. Just waiting for the Battles email with album news!
I believe the album is finished. Hopefully we'll learn something soon!
With all the tour dates they are announcing in Europe, hopefully the states will be not far behind!
